Being on top of social media feeds isn’t easy. Thankfully, there are some apps that we can use to aid in this. Many are well known, like Evernote and Pulse, but I would like to share five that I use intimately. Remember, I am not being paid to share these.
Project Management
For me, Trello has saved me from project management snafus countless times. It may not be intuitive for some, but those who are familiar with post-it in project management, will appreciate the interface. Once you are familiar with the lists and cards, you can organize projects and campaigns easily. You can add deadlines and upload relevant files to each card, cutting down on the time spent searching for that misplaced folder or image. My favorite part is the instant feedback that allows you to keep your fingers on the pulse of each project.
Social Scheduling
Have you ever wanted a planner for your Instagram that looks as good as the platform itself? Meet Planoly. It is a visual planner for the visual social media platform. One of the cool things about this app is that you can architect PR or marketing campaigns months before launching over multiple accounts. This is great for agencies who usually have multiple accounts on their hands. The various subscription plans make it easier for you to start right away.
Visibility Maestro
If you are not using OutBrain, then you are not concerned about visibility. Like the website says, it is about “The Attention Your Content Deserves”. Essentially, it takes your content in terms of blogs or articles, and posts them on key media sites like CNN, Slate and ESPN. Google Adwords uses a similar model for impressions. But here, your content will be placed next to similar editorial content from respected sites. Best of all, it will not appear like a paid ad. Hashtag Search
Face it! Hashtags are a necessary pain in many social media campaigns. Get the right one, and you can get immediate hits. Get the wrong one, and your well-groomed image or infographic gets little attention. Finding the right one can be onerous and time consuming. Luckily, we have Tagomatic. This app automatically finds what it thinks are the best hashtags for your post. In addition, it also allows you to explore other hashtags that may be related to your post.
Posting Pitches
Have you ever wanted a simple app that connects PR pros with journalists based on a story idea? It’s already here with Upitch, and it is very straightforward to use. Simply upload your pitch, and journalists will swipe through the stories to find the right one. There is plenty of help to ensure that your pitch is complete and attractive. You do not have to go through endless media lists anymore, as the journalists will connect with you directly if they are interested.
